Berlin, October 14, 2023 -- Hon. Adrian Belii, the newly appointed Head of the National TB Caucus of the Republic of Moldova, took part in the Conference “We, the people –Global Health Challenges discussed”, organised by the Friends of Global Fund and the World Health Summit.
Prior to the WHS, Friends Europe organised a preparatory conference for selected representatives of civil society and parliaments across Europe. In a series of sessions at the World Health Summit, delegates: discussed and prepared common positions in order to voice their ideas during the WHS; voiced specific concerns that they felt were not addressed by the WHS conference program; and met and networked among parliamentarians and CSO representatives
Attending Parliamentarians and CSO representatives had the opportunity to attend the WHS via facilitation by Friends Europe.
Following one of these discussions, Hon. Adrian Belii agreed to organise a preparatory meeting in Moldova for the committee meeting on TB-related issues. The preliminary list of participants will include Moldovan TB-affected communities, focal points of The Global TB Caucus, national representatives of Global Fund, members of the Moldovan TB Caucus, and other parliamentarians.
One of the areas of discussion will be on promoting the decision-making philosophy of the Global Fund as a model for health democracy in other institutions, amongst other issues; the need to proceed with national legislation work on TB in Moldova, et cetera.
