Parliamentarians and Civil Society gather in Chad to prepare the launch of the National Caucus

On the 2nd of October 2019, a preparatory meeting was held at the National Assembly of Chad by the Chairman of the Health and Social Affairs Committee,Hon. Yabourne Bardjio, Hon Tchombi Getna Kami (Chairman of the Health committee), with the participation of Hon Zacharia Hassan Alsaïd, Hon Djekornonde Tapambaye, Hon. Mahamad Malleum Kadre, Hon. Lawane Gilbert, Hon.Ndoubahadji Taram Delphine, Hon Bana Bawdeouleng, Hon Pst. Mbaidessemel Dionadji, Hon Selguet Achta Aguidi, the coordinator of the National TB Program Dr. Oumar Abdelhadi, Global TB Caucus country’s focal point Mr Djasnarbé Ndolmbaye, and other key stakeholders involved in the fight against TB in Chad.



The aim of the meeting was to gather and share information on the upcoming creation of a National TB caucus in Chad as well as the proposed visit of the Global TB Caucus,which aimed at attending the national caucus launch and also to engage with the Ministry of Health, focal point and other key stakeholders in Chad. The visit will also be used as an opportunity to hold meetings and advocacy workshops to further sensitize MPs on their task of advocating for TB.


All MPs present at the meeting committed to become active members of the Caucus, and to jointly share the updates from the meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly and solicite to him to officially approve the creation of the National TB Caucus in Chad.


During the meeting, Doctor Sambo Guemgo, Doctor Boutaina and Mr Djasnarbé Ndolmbaye were assigned to be in charge of giving technical support to MPs to build their strategy and operational plan to fight TB in the country. The next meeting will be held on the 30th of October, in anticipation of the arrival of the Global TB Caucus delegation for the official launch of the Chad TB Caucus, which will be the 20th of its kind in Africa.
